Fragrance. is the solo project of Paris-based musician Matthieu Roche, blending melancholic synthpop with contemporary darkwave electronics. Over the past few years, he has performed alongside artists such as TR/ST, Linea Aspera, Molly Nilsson, and Vive la Fête. His third album, Kintsugi, was released earlier in November 2025.
Gone, Vanished is a track from the new album that fully embraces the characteristic wistfulness and fragility at the core of Fragrance.’s sound. It’s a dance-ready number that feels like a confrontation with inner demons, trauma, and overwhelming emotions, all carried by the project’s explicitly strong production.
"The song evokes a state of evanescence," Matthieu Roche says. "There is a tension between presence and absence, as if running away from one’s own emotions, even though these experiences remain deeply internalized, with fear, melancholy, and beauty circulating within to sustain life."
Kintsugi, co-produced with Sophia Hamadi (S DIAMAH, Opale), is the follow-up to his sophomore album Salt Water, which was released at the end of 2021.
