New York band A Very Special Episode have always thrived on sentimentality, particularly in the heartfelt way their songs are delivered. Their latest offering, Suspirium, is no exception. Once again, the band turns in a performance that is striking, to say the least.
On Suspirium, AVSE lean into weighty instrumentation and fully committed vocals, embracing a sound that feels compelling and unrestrained. While traces of recognizable genres and structures remain, the band seems to transcend easy categorization, not because those elements aren’t there, but because of the authenticity that defines their delivery. Everything feels direct and unfiltered, as though it’s coming straight from the heart.
