Nick Chrysochoos is a musician, composer, and producer, the person behind THE DEPTHS. The artist's early sense of expressiveness was shaped by the constant presence of music in his Thessaloniki upbringing. In the experimental punk band ANEF, he took his initial steps and learned how music, noise, and emotion could interact.
Chrysochoos continued to develop under the name dry_feel after relocating to Athens. He ran his own label, Dystatik, and released music on independent labels like Píldoras Tapes, X-IMG, and Oráculo Records. He was able to hone a voice that felt intentional and raw throughout this period thanks to the introduction of darker electronic sounds and a more methodical approach to production.
THE DEPTHS as a concept pulls from personal experience, and feels more internal. The more subdued moments seem to exist beneath the outer layer, and each track carries a heavy weight of feelings thanks to the music's intensity and clarity.
The first song from the project's upcoming EP, Dazed, clearly exposes the entire creative mindset of THE DEPTHS. From Nick's adolescence to the current days, the release follows his personal journey. Essentially referring about the memories, changes, and internal environments that mold an individual throughout time. The track moves with a focused energy that reflects the genre’s current sensibility and lands with a contemporary pulse.
