New York project Girl As Wave goes through the seduction of memory on Movies From The Nineties. Written and performed by Marci Elizabeth and longtime collaborator Jimmy Deer, who also produced the track, the song condenses its dark, dreamy atmosphere into three immersive minutes.
Wistful synth textures evoke the emotional glow of another era. The past appears as something half-remembered and cinematic, colored as much by longing as by what actually occurred. The production unfolds like a late-night sequence from a beloved film that is no longer recalled in full.
Movies From The Nineties is a concise, beautifully formed piece of nocturnal synthpop whose cinematic qualities feel integral to its emotional impact.
