Arcem is a new heavy band made up of Dave Mckie, Scott Kooima, Matthew Pressel, and Babe Woodward, all of whom have been part of the greater Midwest area underground for over twenty years collectively. They draw inspiration from a variety of genres, with post metal being the most prominent foundation of their sound, and expansions toward prog rock, drone, post rock, shoegaze and other styles.

An Amalgamation of Loss, Defeat, and Renewal, the band's debut album, is a very intense listen, filled with melancholy as well as emotionally redemptive and purifying effects. Beyond and Above Our Heads is a Life Unattainable exemplifies the album's weight as well as its poetic depth.
