Taleen Kali introduces Flower Of Life, the first taste of her debut full-length. The album, produced by Jeff Schroeder of Smashing Pumpkins and Josiah Mazzaschi (Bizou, Light FM), is heavy on roughness and heavy guitars blended with dynamic vocals, making the band's punk ethos obvious.
Taleen Kali has been influenced by her Armenian roots as well as her parents' origins from Lebanon and Ethiopia, and as an artist she grew up exploring different scene like punk, the riot grrrl feminist movement, as well as C86 tape compilations and Britpop.
Flower Of Life is the upcoming record's title track, a driving punk rock piece. Taleen Kali describes: “Flower Of Life is about coming back to life after the trials and tribulations of the Trump administration, Me Too movement, BLM, and the pandemic. I wrote this song for us to rage to, dance to, scream to. Now that it’s safe to be together again, we can let it all out. This song has about 10 guitars packed into 2 minutes, which is twice the amount of guitars we’ve ever put on a recording. It’s our battle-cry of making it through to the other side. Flower Of Life is also what I’m naming the album.”
Kali recorded Flower Of Life in Winter 2022 with producers Jeff Schroeder (Smashing Pumpkins) and Josiah Mazzaschi (Bizou, Light FM). It will be released through the artist's own experimental label Dum Dum Records.
