Misanthrope by Pale Dian

Darkenin Heart

Texan band Pale DÄ«an describe their music as 'nightmare pop.' After releasing a few singles that became fascinating examples of their sound, the band has released their new album Feral Birth via Green Witch Recordings. The album's release is spotlighted by a psychedelic animated visual for the song Misanthrope by fellow Austin native Wiley Wiggins.

Wiggins, who also works in game development and played Mitch Kramer in the classic coming-of-age film Dazed & Confused, sees animation as yet another creative outlet. The artist describes the video concept as “a person who has been up all night on powerful hallucinogens realizes that they have to drive to work, and the unendurable thought of highway traffic in the August sun causes a crude skull-like top to launch from inside of their face and destroy America in an attempt to stop time”.

Pale DÄ«an's new album is a sentimental and esoteric listen with an arcane and surreal feel, ranging from dark synthpop to shoegaze and more. The new album follows their 2016 full length Narrow Birth (Manifesto Records).
