Asheville post punk band Secret Shame are planning to self release their new album Autonomy on October 28th, 2022. Following a few singles which showed the more pragmatic songwriting direction of vocalist and songwriter Lena, lifting from themes of addiction, body dysmorphia, abuse, and mental illness, the band release Zero, a song focused on all of these topics.
The forceful song, which faces the fragile nature and severity rooted in mental illness, is a connecting link into the mind of Secret Shame vocalist Lena's history of struggle. Throughout Autonomy as a whole, there is a sonic tension between anger and dejection, something that has been established through all singles unveiled prior to the full length's release.
Zero is released together with a video directed by band members Lena Machina and Aster Nema.
