It's become transparent that more challenging music and dark art is being released on a regular basis from Lotus Thrones, which began as a solo project in late 2019 and continues moving forward with consistency.
Gore Orphanage is the first single and video from the forthcoming album The Heretic Souvenir, which will be published on Seeing Red Records on April 7th, 2023. Lotus Thrones' Heath Rave and Sanford Parker produced the album at Hypercube Chicago (Darkthrone, Wovenhand, Youth Code). Collin Jordan at the Boiler Room mastered it (Ministry, Alkaline Trio, Black Moth Super Rainbow).
The single is a destructive and compelling track that starts off confined and unsettling and evolves into a dissonant and vibrant industrial rock blast.
Lotus Thrones describes: "This song is heavily inspired by jisei, the “farewell poem to life”. They were death poems by Japanese zen monks and other individuals who could write at the time reflecting on leaving the world in the last moments of their life. Were you able to accept your beauty and your regret and let go?"
