Moths Behind Pillars of Light / Wastelands by Orochen

Darkenin Heart

With their EP Wastelands, the Gothenburg-based band Orochen follow up their critically acclaimed debut album Anthroposcenic (2022). The band members have decided to work on other projects for the coming period, so this EP serves as the conclusion of Orochens' journey.

They explain: “We feel that this EP is a natural extension from our debut album, both sonically and thematically. It is also an emotional release for us as it is our final offering to the world as a band.”

Wastelands is made up of the EP's title track and the single Moths Behind Pillars of Light, the latter of which depicts a world dominated by capitalism and consumerism. The troubled divide between humanity and the natural world is also explored. Christian Bonnesen (Ex-LLNN), a well-known vocalist and screamer, worked with Orochen on the song Wastelands, adding a fresh perspective.

In order to expand more on the EP's profound concept, Orochen worked closely with the photographers Christian Thunarf and Niklas Lövgren, who were enlisted to create images for each of the two songs.

The EP is mixed and mastered by Andrew Shneider (KEN Mode, Unsane, Rosetta) and it's released through Suicide Records.
