Naarm/Melbourne shoegazers, Oceans, continue to explore their inspiration from many aspects from alternative music, varying from Joy Division to Slowdive to Boards of Canada. Their upcoming debut album Dreamers In Dark Cities is based on the concept of isolation and what comes after spending a lot of time away from loved ones.
Breathless is the latest single from the album, another wistful shoegaze and dreampop track with beautiful instrumentals and strong focus on the guitars. Oceans comment: "It was inspired by the film ‘Breathless’ (1960), which explores how people can try to hold onto a relationship even if it hurts them. It explores the darker themes of love and how we still hold significance to others no matter how far away they may be or the pain they may cause."
Dreamers In Dark Cities was recorded and produced with acclaimed producer Lindsay Gravina (Rowland S. Howard, Magic Dirt). It comes out on March 24th, 2023 via Shelflife Records.
