Vollmond by Elektrokohle

Darkenin Heart

It is common knowledge that the full moon raises the tides, but it also alters many animals' nocturnal routines, making them feel more vulnerable to danger. Vollmond, the first video single by Berlin-based band Elektrokohle, demonstrates all of its gloom in both sound and lyrics; like a tidal wave, emotions fluctuate.

Elektrokohle began as a lockdown project by Mona Manie and G. in 2021, and evolved to a trio with the addition of Suzan Flag a year later. The members come from different places (Italy, Germany, Brazil), and use influence from darkwave, punk, krautrock, noise, punk blues and experimental music, mentioning Suicide, Birthday Party, Malaria!, and Warsaw as inspiration.

The band's dark tendencies and their self-describes cold punk sound are clearly outlined in the song Vollmond, which is bilingual in German and Italian.
