Neon Stars by A Very Special Episode

Darkenin Heart

Noise-pop trio A Very Special Episode, based in Brooklyn, release their latest track, Neon Stars, marking their most deep exploration into the spacious domains of reverb. While A Very Special Episode has previously incorporated parts of shoegaze within their blend of garage rock and post punk, Neon Stars represents a full embrace of the genre, with the band pushing their boundaries further.

The release of Neon Stars adds to the growing collection of tracks from the upcoming album Freak Me Out which also includes the cult-inspired dreamy single Heaven's Gate, the fast-paced Strobes, and $5 Cover, a heartfelt homage to the cherished DIY music scene of New York City.

The band's vocalist/bassist Kasey Heisler comments: “Neon Stars explores the feelings experienced when drifting off to sleep in front of the television, as depicted by Kristi Sun. The outside world’s sounds and lights bleed into the inner dream space and even after waking up you have the sense of bringing remnants of your REM fantasies into reality.”

Neon Stars arrives with a music video which finds the band reuniting with filmmaker Jen Meller, who previously directed the video for the album's first single, Heaven's Gate.

Freak Me Out arrives on June 23rd, 2023 via Hidden Home/EWEL Records.
