The group offers a unique mix of dreamlike melodies and beautiful atmosphere. Basing their sound in the indie music scene of Los Angeles, Mirrorball have created a a style of their own, prompting sentiments of nostalgia and thoughtfulness.

Embracing a melodic and calm tone, Red Hot Dust leaves the impression of a soothing and introspective soft rock track. This is the second single from Mirrorball's highly anticipated upcoming EP, and takes the listener on a mesmerizing and contemplative ride through its melodic style and good production.

Johnstone states that Red Hot Dust was written "during dark times as a way of forcing some light to bubble up, and because I wanted to feel like I could go home again at a time when I could not physically go home.”

The song's production is handled by renowned indie rock producer Chris Coady, known for working with artists like Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and TV on the Radio. The mastering is done by another indie veteran, Heba Kadry, acclaimed for working together with Björk.
