Modern English, originally formed in Colchester, England, began their musical journey by independently releasing their debut single through their own imprint Limp Records before joining the legendary 4AD label. The band's long lasting career, in which they have created an incredible body of work, has spanned over four decades.
The original members of Modern English remain active in the music industry, consistently creating new music and going on tour. Their latest single, Long In The Tooth, is a preview of their upcoming album 1 2 3 4. Modern English's journey, both in their musical evolution and personal experiences, has extended well beyond 40 years, and Long in the Tooth reflects a poignant chapter of this path.
“As we have reached out into the world and all its changes, over all those years, it’s a meditation of getting older in a world that still spins in a chaotic and always interesting way,” Modern English say.
1 2 3 4 was produced by Mario J McNulty (David Bowie, Lou Reed) and is set for an early 2024 release.
