Celebrated Irish post punk band, Virgin Prunes, has announced the reissue of their album, A New Form Of Beauty, following the previous reissue of their Colin Newman-produced album If I Die, I Die in 2023. It comes alongside whole new packaging, remastered audio, and fresh remixes from the band’s iconic frontman Gavin Friday, and Apparition.
The themes explored in the album span from sorrowful stories of unreciprocated love, discontented sexuality, and macabre eroticism to reflections on wasted youth. Sweethome Under White Clouds is a memorable moment on the original album, and it has now turned into an equally grabbing new track with a more electronic bent disposition that feels rather haunting.
The deluxe edition of the album, available on 3LP vinyl, includes A New Form of Beauty Pats 1-4 remastered from the original tapes. In a tri-fold reverse board sleeve deluxe package, the album comes with a 16-page 11" deluxe artbook featuring new sleeve notes by Jon Wood and original drawings by Guggi. The 2CD and digital deluxe editions include remastered audio along with new remixes and tape loop mashups by Apparition and Gavin Friday.
