Consisting of Colin Newman from the prominent UK post-punk band Wire and his lifelong partner, Malka Spigel from Minimal Compact, along with a rotating cast of guests, Nanocluster began as a special pop-up gig by Immersion and evolved into an album series. The project has new material to offer. On June 14th, 2024, the new album Nanocluster Vol. 2 will be released on swim ~.
Immersion's latest single is Rotation. Thor Harris from Swans, is contributing to the project for the new track.
Immersion describe: “The idea was to create a piece that would be in the American Minimalist tradition that is very much Thor’s world. This gives the tempo and repetition which center on the fast piano figure. Thor’s marimba & violin are so deeply within the structure it feels like we played it as an ensemble with Matt’s bells providing some sparkle. It’s like a piece of “orchestral magic” produced by people who do not have access to an orchestra. We wanted to mirror that tempo and energy in the video which was shot in Austin, Brighton, Osaka, Tokyo & Kyoto."
