The Sleep of Reason - Live by Bank Myna
December 22, 2024
French post rock outfit Bank Myna has unveiled a live video for The Sleep of Reason. The reimagined version of the track diverges sharply from its album counterpart, featuring forceful drums and showcasing the band’s unbridled energy.
Two and a half years after the release of their debut album, VOLAVERUNT, Bank Myna delivers an immersive performance that underscores their emotional deepness. Recorded live at the Supersonic Club in Paris on February 13, 2024, the video embodies the band’s authenticity and evolving sound.
Both the music and the video revel in a conscious build-up of tension, culminating in an overwhelming crescendo. The band's visceral energy becomes obvious through their strong performance. With this live take, The Sleep of Reason shifts its original form, delivering a cataclysmic sonic explosion. The synergy between the vocals and instrumentals is nothing short of extraordinary, offering an electrifying glimpse into Bank Myna’s artistic vision at its peak.
The song lifts inspiration from Francisco de Goya’s haunting engraving, El sueño de la razón produce monstruos (The sleep of reason produces monsters). It portrays a man tormented by dark, surreal creatures, an image that inspired the band during the creation of the entire album.
