Verity by Osnova

Darkenin Heart

Osnova, the shoegaze hopefuls from Los Angeles, are back with their enticing new single, Verity. Their previous song Climbing Dues offered a broad, depressing critique of society, however, Verity turns its attention inwardly and provides a candid, personal analysis of escape and perseverance.

The song explores the conflict between the real world and the dream world while engulfing the listener in a mystical fog.

The Verity music video, which echoes the song's main theme, is designed with abstract connection to depict the need to slip into an otherworldly, strange haven in order to get away from the crushing demands of daily life.

“‘Verity’ comes from the perspective of a struggle with mental health,” shares vocalist Caroline McLaughlin. “The narrator copes with a debilitating depression by escaping into the world of sleep. Much preferring the dream world to reality, the narrator starts to question which world is really their truth—or verity. Thus comes the narrator’s plea for the listener to allow them to stay in their preferred world as a desperate attempt to escape their unbearable woken realities.”
