Formed in 2024, Swiss duo ZART have released their debut album Forced Recollection, a dark and immersive work moving through slowcore, shoegaze, wave, and trip-hop. Written and recorded at home in 2025, the album is entirely self-produced, a choice that quietly shapes its character and intimacy.
The record progresses through atmosphere and texture. Its melodies rely on repetition and restraint, while a female voice glides between darkness and intimacy, often candid, sometimes distant, dissolving into a wider haze of sound.
Rooted in a DIY punk background, ZART continue to work with a strong independent ethos, handling production, artwork, and organization largely on their own or in close collaboration with friends. The track DISSIPATE was mixed by Ben Chisholm (Chelsea Wolfe).
At its core, the song is about the overwhelming feeling of receiving affection and being physically near to someone, and how such contact can lead to a greater understanding of oneself. The emotion travels like a rush, being warm, vast, and almost elemental, with intimacy reshaping the perception of everything around it.
