I Am the Dog by Dolours
August 24, 2026
UK underground outfit Dolours confront the corrosion of identity on I Am the Dog, a tense meeting of post punk urgency and noise rock abrasion. Driving bass creates an insistent forward motion while hostile guitars crowd the arrangement, enclosing the song in a dense and increasingly oppressive atmosphere.
The track examines how another person’s language, power and influence can gradually reshape one’s understanding of the self. Here, Dolours turn psychological submission into something raw and physically immediate.
The band comments on the new track: "I Am the Dog is about how your identity can be shaped by someone else's words, power or influence, and the gradual acceptance of a degraded identity. It's about becoming an unwanted reflection of someone else's desires, until you no longer recognise where they end and you begin."
Rooted in a fiercely DIY approach, the band shape familiar post-punk elements into music that feels confrontational and unsettled.
