Hollywood band Free from Concern reveal that their new single, Anxious Existence, began life as a purely electronic composition. The finished version gravitates toward post punk, but its electronic framework remains intact, buried beneath layers of guitars, noise, and the force of a full-band performance.
Free from Concern preserve the original clap samples within the final arrangement, leaving a rhythmic pulse from the song's earliest version beating beneath its abrasive exterior.
The transformation proves fitting for a track concerned with addiction and anxiety, cycles that evolve without ever fully loosening their grip. Obscure shadows gather around its direct emotional themes, while the music lands with the blunt force of noise rock at its most visceral.
Created almost entirely by the band themselves, the track received its final mastering treatment from Greg Obis in Chicago.
