Belgian post punk outfit A Slice Of Life release Back, the driving lead single from their forthcoming four-track EP, Echoes Of Our Time. Combining jangle pop guitars move above a firm bass foundation, while bittersweet, baritone-style vocals give the song’s melodic urgency a poignant emotional weight.
Back reflects on the passage of time and the missed opportunities that continue to haunt both life and love. Its focus may be fixed on what cannot be recovered, but the music doesn't stand still. It offers a contrast between regret and momentum that lifts the track into an urgent piece, far from being a passive exercise in nostalgia.
Formed within Belgium’s underground music scene, A Slice Of Life draw deeply from eighties new wave and melodic post punk while retaining a sharp contemporary edge. Following two self-released full-length albums, Echoes Of Our Time finds the seasoned group refining their atmospheric, guitar-driven sound.
